Unless you’ve been hiding under a rock, you’ll have heard that Splendour In The Grass starts next week Friday and let’s just say that the lineup is pretty amazing! Splendour is the country’s most recognised festival and attracts a whole range of different types. And why wouldn’t it… nothing beats copious amounts of mud, music and the fresh open air.
So with a line-up to die for, it was super hard to narrow it down to our fav 3 bands performing. But we gave it our best shot!
The Hives
This dapper Swedish rock’n’roll band carved a niche in early 2000 and are now a staple on the indie dance floors around the world. Their music crashed onto our shores last year blowing minds and melting hearts with hits from their first album, very correctly titled; “Your New Favourite Band”. Needless to say, we love the addictive roar of their loud grungy tunes! I’ll tell you over and over, “Hate to Say I told You So” is our favourite bustling tune from this multi hit garage rock band – sure to pull up grass as thousands of feet shuffle, hop, and jump on the sweet meadow fields of the Woodford venue of Splendour in the Grass 2011.

Warpaint
When it hits 4pm on sunny splendour Friday afternoon, after sweating it out to the tunes of such bands like The Wild Beasts, Illy, and Jebadiah the 20,000 happy campers who are lucky enough to have scouted a ticket, pitched up a tent and made it into the vibrancy of the festival, will take a moment to sink into the mud and absorb the exquisite mellow sound of 4 piece Psychedelic band; Warpaint. Those who are lucky enough will be completely enticed with the gorgeous echoing voice of lead singer Emily Kokall and her band who accompany with a elegant mix of vocals, bass, guitar, drums and key.

The Kills
There is nothing more addictive than the sensual sounds of American singer, Alison Mosshard and definitive beats of British guitarist, drummer Jamie Hince. Together these two form the tantalising duo; the Kills. Filled with attitude and definition, it’s almost impossible to listen to these two mould music into melody without tapping your toes and flicking your hair to their hits such as “Tape Song”, that screams femme fatale to the ladies and punk rocker to the boys with loud short drumming and the killer tune this leading lady’s stand out voice!
