Exclusive Interview: A Move Forward With Tom Delonge From Blink 182 & Macbeth
If you’ve paid any attention to the punk rock scene over the last 10 years, you’ll know rock star Tom Delonge of Blink 182, Angels and Airwaves and the creator of the original music footwear brand, Macbeth. With support from artists such as Mike Dirnt (Green Day) and Frank Iero (My Chemical Romance), Macbeth has established itself as a fashion-forward footwear brand that offers comfortable, vegan-friendly, classic shoes.
What differentiates Macbeth from most other brands?
We have our own look, our own vibe…we are not a skate brand, we are the first music brand.
How do you decide who becomes a member of the Macbeth family?
Personality, conquest and sexual ability.
What inspired you to make Macbeth Vegan Shoes?
Most bands have a connection to veganism if not themselves.
What’s your favourite piece from the current collection?
My model, the Langley.
In what direction do you see the brand going in the next few years?
We should be able to do all forms of classics. Boots, running shoes etc…
Tell me about your new Studio Project Macbeth shoe coming out in November, what should we expect?
It is a classic low profile shoe from the planet Vans / Converse. Must wear tight pants with them. No underwear.
Since Blink 182 reunited, has the chemistry been the same?
Chemistry is the best ever, we are having a great time. Best tour yet.
What’s next…should we expect to see more from the group?
You shall fasten your seat belts.
If you could sum up your latest album, Neighborhoods, in three words what would they be?
A move forward.
Your other band, Angels and Airwaves is just about to release their new album Love II. What’s the concept behind the album and the “Love” movie?
Human Connection, the value of a lasting imprint from your life to another.
What are some of your favourite bands? What are some up and coming artists we should look out for?
I am really into RadioHead right now….but everybody should check out Matt and Kim.
We hear Boomer is back… is this true?
I hear that too
