Karla: Thanks so much for taking the time to chat with us Miranda! To start with, tell us a bit about yourself – where are you from and how did you get into modelling?
Miranda: That’s okay! I’m 18, born and raised in Brisbane. Modelling is something I’ve always wanted to do but as a child I was heavily involved with sport; everything from tennis and netball to swimming and track, so I didn’t have a lot of time to do anything else. As soon as high school was over a friend suggested I look into it and give it a go, and I haven’t looked back. It’s been amazing so far and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for 2014!
K: What do you like to do when you’re not modelling?
M: My boyfriend is a bit of an adventurist so when we have some spare time we like to go exploring, looking for waterfalls and find secret fishing spots. Other than that I like to sew, sitting in my sewing room designing and creating pretty little bra-lettes is a very productive day for me!
K: What’s been your favourite modelling job or project so far?
M: A campaign for Abi and Joseph – late last year. It was the perfect day for shooting at Noosa, amazing blue skies, crystal clear water, and the breeze was lovely. The whole day couldn’t have gone any smoother. And as a result the shots were awesome! Days like that are what make this job so fun and rewarding – it doesn’t even feel like work!
K: Obviously you’re in amazing shape – what’s your health and fitness regime?
M: Thank you! I’m really into running, so I like to run about 10-15km three times a week, along with other workouts in-between (abs, boxing, yoga). Exercise is something I really love and if I miss a few workouts I start getting really stressed and cranky haha! I do it all from home too, I’m not a fan of gyms or working out in doors, I feel a little claustrophobic so it doesn’t work for me. Working out in the fresh air is the way to go!
K: What’s your guilty pleasure?
M: Mexican! I love Mexican food so much I would almost say I was addicted. Working in a Mexican restaurant definitely doesn’t help me either!
K: Favourite brand on SurfStitch?
M: Favourite at the moment would be Tigerlilly, some of their new styles are relaxed but with really fun patterns.
K: What makes you a great fit for the SurfStitch brand?
M: A love of the beach for a start! If I could move from Brisbane to anywhere along the coast, I would. I love an outfit that can be transformed from relaxed and comfortable to something that I could dress up for a nice dinner or a night out. SurfStitch stock a lot of new trendy pieces that work really well together and it makes styling an outfit so easy!
K: If you had 5 minutes to choose any location in the world and pack 5 items to take with you, where would you go and what would you pack?
M: I really love Australia, especially Byron Bay. But if I could go anywhere I think I’d pick Hawaii. Obviously bikinis! A big floppy hat and some oversized sunnies. Some Reef tanning oil and a cute kimono looking cover up.
K: Models you aspire to?
M: I love when a model radiates health; I think the girls that are fit and healthy have a great image and it set a really good example for younger girls that look to them as role models. Some favourites would be Candice Swanepoel, Magdelena Frackowiak and Cara Delevingne
5 quick ones…
- Heels or flats? This is hard! But probably flats
- Night in or night out? Night in
- Sweet or savoury? Sweet definitely!
- Beach or pool? Beach
- Summer or Winter? Summer
