7b55f5257ad017b3228d06ffb520b5d7Once upon a time a visible bra would have been looked at as taboo, tacky and completely unnecessary. However these days the more lace shown the better. Feminine, sexy and versatile lace bralettes are made to be shown under a loose singlet or sheer shirt. Pretty lingerie is the perfect option when the weather is so hot outside you want to wear as little as possible or when you are feeling a little bit confident and want to show a touch of sexiness. Seen in numerous street style blogs this is a trend that will continue into the cooler months peeking through a loose knitted jumper or shirt.464872b825d9f812ba742f1f8dc77ea3 img7017aBright-Bralette-Cosabella-N d2e13f0612d65001bab2e531f06b422f Love a lace bra:Lace

2014 Locked and Loaded

So 2013 is done and dusted, Mick Fanning has an extra trophy to dust, Kelly Slater has a self-proclaimed renewed competitive flame and another Pipe Trophy and the ASP has a locked down 2014 schedule and full roster of ready and armed athletes.

The final event of the year, The Billabong Pipeline Masters presented by Billabong, plays a vital role in the requalification and qualification dreams of many surfers, and this year was no different. The last two days of the event saw dreams rise and fade for some surfers, who came incredibly close to requalifying, but have sadly been relegated to compete on the 2014 qualification tour. Still, travelling the world surfing has to be better than sitting behind a desk right?

The top 22 from the WCT placing’s have joined the next top 10 (Barring double qualifiers) from the 2013 ASP Qualification Series’ and 2 ASP injury wildcards to make up the 2014 top 34.

2013 ASP World Championship Tour (WCT) Top 22:
Mick Fanning (AUS)
2. Kelly Slater (USA)
3. Joel Parkinson (AUS)
4. Jordy Smith (ZAF)
5. Taj Burrow (AUS)
6. Julian Wilson (AUS)
7. Kai Otton (AUS)
8. Nat Young (USA)
9. Josh Kerr (AUS)
10. John John Florence (HAW)
11. C.J. Hobgood (USA)
12. Michel Bourez (PYF)
13. Adriano de Souza (BRA)
14. Gabriel Medina (BRA)
15. Filipe Toledo (BRA)
16. Sebastian Zietz (HAW)
17. Adrian Buchan (AUS)
18. Jeremy Flores (FRA)
19. Miguel Pupo (BRA)
20. Fred Patacchia (HAW)
21. Bede Durbidge (AUS)
22. Matt Wilkinson (AUS)

2013 ASP Qualification Series (QS) Top 10 (barring double qualifiers):
- Adam Melling (AUS)
- Kolohe Andino (USA)
- Alejo Muniz (BRA)
- Jadson Andre (BRA)
- Mitch Crews (AUS)
- Aritz Aranburu (EUK)
- Raoni Monteiro (BRA)
- Travis Logie (ZAF)
- Dion Atkinson (AUS)
- Brett Simpson (USA)

December was a tough month for some, sitting back and watching the final events unfold, unsure as to whether they would secure an ASP injury wildcard or not. In the end, the ASP allocated these two ASP Wildcards to Owen Wright (AUS) and Tiago Pires (PRT). There was such a high number of surfers requesting consideration for these slots that the ASP has in fact allocated the first ASP replacement slot to a unsuccessful injury wildcard candidate, Glen Hall (IRL). The Irish natural, with an Australian heart the size of a lion injured himself surfing in the Volcom Pro at Fiji this year, and has been out of action since. SurfStitch wishes him all the best in 2014 and looks forward to catching up with him soon for some insight into his rehabilitation and 2014 preparation plans.

This final moves confirmed the ASP replacement surfers to be:
- Glenn Hall (IRL)
- Mitch Coleborn (AUS) – next in line on 2013 ASP QS rankings
- Patrick Gudauskas (USA) – next in line on 2013 ASP WCT rankings
- Willian Cardoso (BRA) – second in line on 2013 ASP QS rankings

This decision by the ASP did however make a birth at 2014 CT events a little harder for Mitch Coleborn, who would have otherwise been the first replacement. Mitch came agonisingly close to qualification, missing the qualification cut-off by a single spot, pipped at the post by Brett Simpson who had to requalify through his QS ranking. Being an enormous fan of Mitch’s surfing personally, it’s a real disappointment he isn’t a confirmed starter for 2014, but with such an arsenal of moves it’s just a matter of time before this Sunshine Coast local is lighting up the tour!

The first ASP event kicks off on the Gold Coast in just under 2 months, with the window running from March 1st through to March 12th.

The most rampant time of year for setting resolutions and vowing to become fit, active and healthy has arrived, with inspiration, ideas and motivation flying around social media! We here at SurfStitch don’t believe that this leap of motivation should only come around once a year – fit and healthy should be a mindset rather than a fad. Check out some fitness inspiration, shop some activewear and take a look at these tips for a healthier you!

  1. If it’s not your thing, start small. Find a friend who’s looking for motivation and go walking together at a time that suits you. The chit chat will make time fly, and before you know it it’ll be the easiest and most natural thing for your Monday morning. Like a walk in the park!
  2. Exercising doesn’t need to mean running, lifting weights or doing circuit training at your local gym straight away. Start small, or with sports or outdoor activities that you enjoy. Surfing, hiking, bike riding (even just swapping short car rides for your bike) and yoga are all activities that anyone can get involved in, with levels from beginning to advanced. Start at a pace that suits you and then gradually increase the intensity.
  3. Try new things! I had never gone stand-up-paddle boarding before, and was sure I’d be terrible at it due to my one-time lesson in surfing that didn’t go too well. I gave it a go and it was actually easier than I thought. On top of that, the next day i had tight muscles in my torso and arms, meaning I got a bonus workout too!
  4. Fuel your body with the correct foods to keep your energy levels where you need them. Skipping meals or cutting out carbs will not do you any favours. Fill your diet with fruits, vegetables, grains and proteins, and don’t feel too bad if you need to treat yourself every so often.
  5. Be positive about your progress, and more than anything: HAVE FUN!

My favourite look for my current long weekend when I spent the days on the sandy beaches and the afternoons in my white sundress with cocktail in hand.  White is the colour of the season as it brightens up any outfit and looks great with a healthy tan! Carry a large bag for all your essentials and a cute straw hat and you’re set.
