We tend to wander towards the blacks, the charcoals and the greys in the winter time – who knows? Maybe they make us feel warmer. Maybe it’s because they attract that much needed sunlight in the cooler weather.

Winter has well and truly set in so there couldn’t be a better time to let you have a sneak peak at the SurfStitch Winter ’13 Campaign. Starting the Week in a Positive Way

Mondays are hard, and they’re even harder in the winter – I think we can all agree on that one! This got me thinking about what improves my Mondays, and I realised…it’s all about trying to feel inspired!

So I thought I’d show you some of the things that inspire me to get out of my Monday morning gloom. Take a look – I hope they can inspire you too. There’s some SurfStitch product that I’m loving at the moment too!

Some beautiful flowers to brighten a room.

A big city and all of its’ lights.

Super on-trend right now, the fedora is a winter style staple!

1. Tigerlily Kutch Dress – Basmati. Again, thinking of Europe! A comfortable dress to throw over a bikini and to wear to a seaside lunch! 2. Living Doll Toasted Marshmello Knit. Chunky knits are back again this winter and this one is super cute with those little plucked fibres and dotted colouring. 3. Tigerlily Parvani Pant – Moon. Track pants are often daggy, but not when they’re Tigerlily and Fluoro!

Cannes Film Festival 2013

The 66th edition of the glamorous Cannes Film Festival kicked off in the French Riviera yesterday. Baz Luhrmann’s lavish take on the classic The Great Gatsby opened the festival with stars including Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher gracing the red carpet despite the windy and drenching weather. The horrible weather didn’t manage to ruin the high spirits although the hemlines had to be watched and hair and make up excused!

The film world royalty all port at the picturesque French Riviera for the 12 day festival which is filled with beautiful people and amazing cinematography. We here at SurfStitch are lusting over the high attention to detail and breathtaking work of some of the world’s best couture gowns on show on the red carpet. Great Gatsby star, Carey Mulligan, stole the show in her baby pink couture Dior dress while model of the moment Cara Delvingne sported a Burberry black lace floor length gown.

Take inspiration from the movie elite and their black tie events on a smaller, much more understated level with lace sleeves, bright bursts of colour and attention to detail pieces. While we can’t all be so lucky to wear the works of Dior we can always dream through these images and the SurfStitch pieces below.

Go pretty and girly with shades of pink from blush to bright, volumous skirts or take cue from Nicole Kidman with floral motifs and high detailing.

She is the girl that everyone wants to be friends with. She is effortlessly cool, extremely personable, has an enviable wardrobe and is the type of girl you can image yourself having the best time around, every time. She is, of course, Erin Wasson. Inspiring us on a daily basis with her 90s vibes and rock and roll appearance complete with tattoos, tousled hair and that comfortable tomboyish look that she seems to perfect.

Wasson not only stirs attention for her facial features and banging body but her personal style has captivated us on the style scene too. Model, (including Victoria Secrets), stylist and designer of label Low Luv, Wasson is the complete package. Ever since the theme of the 2013 Met Gala was announced we have been beyond excited to see what the most fashionable women in the world wear to clash the seemingly conflicting themes of chaos and couture. We were not disappointed. The 2013 theme Punk: Chaos to Couture, saw the heavy metals, peaking flesh, razor sharp cuts and shockingly short hemlines of the punk era turned into pieces of modern art in the form of couture gowns wore by the entertainment and fashion industries finest.

Some stuck perfectly to the theme dressing in black with mesh detailing and leather features all topped off with heavy eyeliner and wicked hair do’s:

Monday Musings: Beautiful Sunsets

This Monday has me musing about the beautiful sunsets we keep seeing here on the Gold Coast. Autumn is in full swing, and the colourful, early sunsets are sweeping me away on a daily basis. What brought this on, you ask? Why, our roof top SurfStitch 400 Brands Staff Party, of course! Photos are coming later this week, but let me paint you a picture… as we enjoyed our drinks and canapes, the sky was draped in slivers of fluorescent oranges, mixed with bubblegum pinks, corals and bits of remaining blue and grey.

There’s nothing more calming than a beautiful sunset, and we got to enjoy it at its’ best – today I’m dreaming of all of the beautiful sunsets we’re lucky enough to see, and the incredible colours they show you. Dream with me this Monday, and shop my SurfStitch inspiration!
