Winter has well and truly set in so there couldn’t be a better time to let you have a sneak peak at the SurfStitch Winter ’13 Campaign. Cannes Film Festival 2013

The 66th edition of the glamorous Cannes Film Festival kicked off in the French Riviera yesterday. Baz Luhrmann’s lavish take on the classic The Great Gatsby opened the festival with stars including Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher gracing the red carpet despite the windy and drenching weather. The horrible weather didn’t manage to ruin the high spirits although the hemlines had to be watched and hair and make up excused!

The film world royalty all port at the picturesque French Riviera for the 12 day festival which is filled with beautiful people and amazing cinematography. We here at SurfStitch are lusting over the high attention to detail and breathtaking work of some of the world’s best couture gowns on show on the red carpet. Great Gatsby star, Carey Mulligan, stole the show in her baby pink couture Dior dress while model of the moment Cara Delvingne sported a Burberry black lace floor length gown.

Take inspiration from the movie elite and their black tie events on a smaller, much more understated level with lace sleeves, bright bursts of colour and attention to detail pieces. She is effortlessly cool, extremely personable, has an enviable wardrobe and is the type of girl you can image yourself having the best time around, every time. She is, of course, Erin Wasson. Inspiring us on a daily basis with her 90s vibes and rock and roll appearance complete with tattoos, tousled hair and that comfortable tomboyish look that she seems to perfect.

Wasson not only stirs attention for her facial features and banging body but her personal style has captivated us on the style scene too. Model, (including Victoria Secrets), stylist and designer of label Low Luv, Wasson is the complete package. The t-shirt dress has been trending for some time now, first being recognized on the international runways back in 2009. However, year after year it is revamped and reinvented into something a bit more different, mimicking the surrounding trends of the season. This time around the t-shirt dress converts the trends through prints, graphics and neon colours. This is simple dressing at its best yet has a quirkiness of boyish charm. For that hot summer’s days throw on your t-shirt dress with some easy accessories and you’re out the door in 5 minutes flat or take cue from the model off duty look and pair with boots, belt and a jacket for those cooler evenings.

Although t-shirt dressing is an effortless style it must not be confused with sloppy dressing. This look can be done so you don’t end up looking like you’ve just rolled out of bed and into public. With so many great gigs coming up and such an array of different acts and sounds, we thought we’d give you a hand deciding a fundamental element to making sure you have the best day possible….your outfit! The vibe, the crowd, the sound and the weather are all key things to keep in mind when deciding what you are going to wear to a festival so we thought we’d give you a quick break down of each and put together the perfect ensemble for both guys and girls. Ok so technically “The Perfect Bikini” is not a trend but hear me out…..I have recently set my sights on the perfect KIND of bikini and this is a trend we’re seeing emerging majorly.

This style of bikini is perfect for it’s functionality and it’s stylish form. Over the should triangle bikini’s leave you minus the dreaded halter tie strap marks we all try so endlessly to avoid.
