That’s right ladies and gentleman, Australia’s favourite music festival is back again for 2014. The ‘Splendour In The Grass’ line up was released last Wednesday, with excitement and anticipation levels boosting through the roof of music lovers homes all over the country. From local acts, to some a little better known, Splendour in the Grass always offers entertainment from every aspect possible. Byron Bay Parklands in Northern New South Wales will once again play host to this amazing event, drawing in worldwide audiences and creating memories to last a lifetime.
If you’ve been before, you’ll know Splendour is filled with nothing but good vibes, great music and a whole lot of fun for you and your friends. Located 10 minutes from the Town Centre, this year’s festival offers many unique areas, all providing different experiences and performances. From the classic Tipi Forest, to the beautiful natural amphitheatre stage and everything else in between, Splendour ensures fun for every type of person, regardless of age or music preference.
There were rumours spreading on who would be performing at this years 3 day festival, and the results did not disappoint. With the festival offering many popular artists demonstrating all types of music, it is the likes of Outkast, Lily Allen, Two Door Cinema Club, Interpol and Foster the People who will be headlining this year’s event. ‘Heyyyyyyy yaaaaa’ Yep, you heard right. Other popular acts also include Angus and Julia Stone, City and Colour, the very amazing Rufus, and of course, Art vs. Science.
2014 is also the first year since 2006 headliners Outkast have performed together on stage. Coachella in the United States earlier this year was the first time fans had seen the duo back at it, a performance which now has Australian fans more excited than ever.
The dates for the 2014 Splendour In The Grass are the 25th, 26 and 27th of July. Tickets for the entire 3 days start from just $355 Australian Dollars, while single day tickets are also available for $149. Splendour is also offering camping tickets for $99 and as previous event goers know, the camp site is often a large majority of the fun and is definitely recommended. All in all, a total of 84 artists will be performing at Splendour In The Grass 2014, 46 of them being Australian, so get on down and support!
Not a music lover and getting dragged along? Not to worry. There really and truly is something for everyone, including the Global Village and Very Small Mall. These areas consist of stalls, workshops, yoga and some great food. Very Small Mall allows you to pick up anything you might need for festival essentials, from t-shirts, gumboots and rain coats, just in case the weather goes a little sour, as it has in previous years. The festival even offers a kids club known as ‘Little Splendour’, so mum and dad can sneak off to see some of their favourite acts.
Many of the headliners haven’t played a show in Australia for over a year, so no doubt all will be great performances. Splendour is a unique festival and of course one which all previous artists have enjoyed being a part of. It’s whole environment is something many look forward to year after year and 2014 will be no different.
