SurfStitch Winter Campaign.

E63A8744

Winter has well and truly set in so there couldn’t be a better time to let you have a sneak peak at the SurfStitch Winter ’13 Campaign. This campaign is all about those little moments in life that last a lifetime; grabbing your best friends and going on spontaneous road trips, camping by the beach with moonlit bonfires, breathing in the fresh crisp air of the rainforest and being in the company of the ones that make you laugh until your belly is sore.

Take key from the SurfStitch lookbook this winter and opt for layering pieces where you can throw on jumpers with your boyfriend jeans, knits over dresses, slouchy pants, statement jackets and clothes that are comfy enough to sleep in. The standard winter colours are always on show with stripes, denim and khaki being a main focus, however this winter hails a breakthrough of colour with winter florals, bright burst of neons and contrasting hues coming through.

Although we hail the hot summer weather, winter has it’s own special little quirks like wearing your boyfriends jumper, bike rides to hidden places, enjoying the comfort of your home and appreciating the small moments where time stands still. The SurfStitch Winter Lookbook has arrived and it’s time to make the best out of every moment, be young and carefree and most of all, be a wild spirit at heart.

What’s best is that all the pieces below are available on SurfStitch now so you can shop straight from the lookbook or take a peek below for my favourite picks- enjoy!

Starting the Week in a Positive Way

Mondays are hard, and they’re even harder in the winter – I think we can all agree on that one! This got me thinking about what improves my Mondays, and I realised…it’s all about trying to feel inspired!

So I thought I’d show you some of the things that inspire me to get out of my Monday morning gloom. Take a look – I hope they can inspire you too. There’s some SurfStitch product that I’m loving at the moment too!

Flowers

Some beautiful flowers to brighten a room.

Marilyn

Beautiful people who changed an entire era.

Sea, air, sun

Pretty words describing prettier places.

NYC

A big city and all of its’ lights.

Dubrovnik

Thinking of my favourite place: Dubrovnik.

Sunset

A tropical sunset.

Here are some things I bought today (that are definitely improving my Monday!)

Prod1

1. Stylestalker Replicants Pant – Chambray Floral. Dressed up with cuban heeled boots and a tucked in button down shirt, or dressed down with a singlet & strappy sandals! 2. Tigerlily Amisha Onesie – Dark Indigo. Dressed up with heels, purse and jewelled necklace, or down with sandals (perfect for my European travels coming up!). 3. Rhythm The Packet Hat – Black. Super on-trend right now, the fedora is a winter style staple!

And these ones are still on the wishlist.

Prod2

1. Tigerlily Kutch Dress – Basmati. Again, thinking of Europe! A comfortable dress to throw over a bikini and to wear to a seaside lunch! 2. Living Doll Toasted Marshmello Knit. Chunky knits are back again this winter and this one is super cute with those little plucked fibres and dotted colouring. 3. Tigerlily Parvani Pant – Moon. Track pants are often daggy, but not when they’re Tigerlily and Fluoro!

HAPPY MONDAY!

Cannes Film Festival 2013

article-2325095-19CC6DC5000005DC-939_964x698

The 66th edition of the glamorous Cannes Film Festival kicked off in the French Riviera yesterday. Baz Luhrmann’s lavish take on the classic The Great Gatsby opened the festival with stars including Carey Mulligan, Leonardo DiCaprio, Nicole Kidman and Isla Fisher gracing the red carpet despite the windy and drenching weather. The horrible weather didn’t manage to ruin the high spirits although the hemlines had to be watched and hair and make up excused!

The film world royalty all port at the picturesque French Riviera for the 12 day festival which is filled with beautiful people and amazing cinematography. We here at SurfStitch are lusting over the high attention to detail and breathtaking work of some of the world’s best couture gowns on show on the red carpet. Great Gatsby star, Carey Mulligan, stole the show in her baby pink couture Dior dress while model of the moment Cara Delvingne sported a Burberry black lace floor length gown.

Take inspiration from the movie elite and their black tie events on a smaller, much more understated level with lace sleeves, bright bursts of colour and attention to detail pieces. While we can’t all be so lucky to wear the works of Dior we can always dream through these images and the SurfStitch pieces below.

Lovely Loungewear.

Autumn is time to embrace all the loveliness in the humble home. Warm bowls of steamy soup with your favourite book in your lap, snuggled up on the lounge in woollen socks and sleeping in well past your alarm. Autumn is the best season to embrace those cosy loungewear items that are sometimes often overlooked in your wardrobe “must haves,” however during the cooler months they become more essential than the latest party dress.

Loungewear is all about soft luxurious fabrics that are cosy enough to sleep in layered under chunky woollens for those chilly nights. Find matching sets or mix and match textures, colours and prints for a bit more fun. Luxe white, grey and ivory make for a soft luxurious feel, while coloured ugg boots and fun socks turn lazing around the home a bit more playful. Embrace loungewear items from SurfStitch because as the temperature drops they are sure to become your closest friend.

L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival

There are two major events marked on the Australian fashion calendar and watched by many. From the envious street style shots that flood the blogs to the shows that are often limited to the exclusive insiders and anticipated every season. This week showcases one of those major events, the L’Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival. The week has displayed some of the hottest labels AW’13 collections, which saw a focus on intricate detailing, exquisite prints, and the perfect balance being formed between tough rock and feminine delicates. The best thing about LMFF is that all the collections are available now, in stores and online so you can shop straight from the runway.Take a look at my favourite SurfStitch favourites and shop the collections now.

Shakuhachi presented another collection in a world of their own. Heavily embellished with gold detailing in cropped tees and shorts this is a collection founded on sophistication and modern detailing. With a fairly monotone colour palette of black and bronzes there were splashes of colour that shone through in Asian inspired patterns and block colours. Jessie White founded the label 10 years ago collection, presenting a collection of neon colours and hints of this recent collection goes back to those roots. Assymetrical hemlines, modern draping and twisting elements were all present resulting in a highly polished and carefully detailed collection.

Shop Shakuhachi at SurfStitch:

1. Gypsy Tee Shift Dress- Gypsy Print  2. Harlequin Shirt- White  3. Lolita Tee Dress Face- Print Black  4. Rubberised Running Shorts- Black

Tigerlily has established a cult following for it’s bohemian aesthetic and worldly influences.  Founded by Jodhi Meares in 2000, Tigerlily has grown into a brand that is sexy and exotic yet grounded and earthy to become a pioneer in swimwear and fashion. The label is based on the qualities of health, freedom and fun which is evident throughout this collection with its clashing prints and bold colours. Earthy tones in deep oranges and rusty reds set against bright pops of pink and fresh blues. Prints from around the globe from Moroccan influences and Ghaudi aesthetics are injected into long skirts, maxi dresses with high splits, embellished shorts, chunky cardigans and tailored jackets. This is a collection where nothing was left to spare and with loosely styled pieces it truly is a release of your inner bohemian child.

Shop these Tigerlily looks straight off the runway:

1. Tango Dress- Black Sea  2. Rassamun Cardi- Multi  3. Chinar Mumu- Multi  4. Anhalt Vest- Multi

Shop these Tigerlily looks:

Still a fairly new label to hit the Australian market, Bless’ed Are The Meek was created in 2003 with the vision to create luxurious and fashion forward yet easily accessible clothing. They have presented a collection that travels seamlessly through day to night with fun dresses, statement skirts and luxe knits. Effortlessly sexy and ultra modern with innovative cuts, modern shapes and exceptional attention to detail, it is another perfected collection from the label.

How To: Rock the Cuban Heeled Boot

The slow and swift transition from summer to autumn dressing happens at our feet, when we suddenly swap our trusty thongs to boots. This season one of the biggest footwear trends is the Cuban Heeled Boot. The Cuban boot is a boot with a sturdy low heel that was pioneered from men back in the ’60s mainly through the Beatles. The western inspired boot lets out a bit of your inner wild child and they make for an effortless, trendy and versatile shoe option. What’s better is that the sturdy heel makes for no more worries of falling over trying to look your best and it’s definitely every girls dream to find those pieces that not only look amazing but are comfortable all day. Read up on the tips below of how to rock one of SurfStitch‘s favourite trends.

RULES:

1. Don’t pair with wide legged or flared bottom pants. The pants will overshadow the look and the chunky heel will be too wide down there.

2. Do tuck your Cuban heeled boot into dark skinny jeans for a rock and roll look or pair with a short floral dress and denim jacket for a softer feel.

3. Do use this boot to your advantage. The chunky heel makes it more versatile than the flat boot so experiment with colours and patterns and make a plain tee and jean combo more interesting.

4. Do wear with rolled pants and a blazer for an office appropriate look.

5. Do know what colour goes with what. Wear a black pair for a more rock, edgy look or tan for a casual feel. Black takes you from day to night, while the lighter shades are better suited for a casual day look.

6. Do buy a neutral colour if it’s your first pair. A neutral tone will go with EVERYTHING in your wardrobe and you’ll be able to wear them all winter long.

7. This one is obvious, but it has to be said: Don’t pair with tight denim shorts and a bikini top. You’re not Jessica Simpson and these boots are not made for walkin’.

Choose a classic neutral pair for versatility:

1. Kustom Tex Heel Boot- Black Suede 2. Tigerlily Alhambra Boot- Ginger 3. Billabong Buckle Heel Boot- Vintage Brown

Or opt for a statement boot with buckles, tassles and patterns:

1. Soles Boot This Boot- Tapestry 2. Soles Dr Doom Boot- Black 3. Billabong Stela Heel Boot- Iron

Womens Trend: Harem Pants.
